Lot # 555
1924 Peace Silver Dollar. MS-68 (NGC).
Lot Information
Final Bid $28,750.00
Description: The 1924 is often grouped with the 1922, 1923 and 1925 as one of the four most-common issues in the 1921-1935 Peace Dollar series. This is only a half truth, for the 1924 is actually quite underrated when compared to these other three P-mint deliveries. In such a lofty grade as MS-68, the Peace Dollar as a type is exceedingly rare, and only four examples have received that designation from PCGS and NGC irrespective of date or issuing Mint. Interestingly, two of the MS-68s are 1924s and the other two are 1925s.
The ultimate type coin, this untoned, blast-white Superb Gem is minimally abraded and overall smooth. Satiny surfaces exhibit the somewhat granular texture that is seen now and then on Silver Dollars of this type, but we stress that that feature is as struck. Sharply impressed, and a strong candidate for inclusion in the finest type set or Registry collection.

Combined PCGS and NGC Population: only 2; 0 finer.

PCGS# 7363.
